NOAA Environmental Modeling Center seeking Support Scientist

I.M. Systems Group (IMSG), a federal contractor, is seeking to fill a position for a support scientist. The successful candidate will provide science and software engineering support to assist the EMC’s Global Weather and Climate Modelling Branch (GWCMB) in the development, testing and evaluation, monitoring, maintenance and implementation of advanced physics in global NOAA Environmental Modeling System (NEMS). 
Specific activities include:

  • Contribute to the accelerated development/implementation of scale aware convection, microphysics and cloud-radiation-aerosol interaction into NEMS. This will involve close interaction and collaboration with Climate Process Teams and GCWMB scientists also working on this project,
  • design, set up, and execute pre-implementation tests for NEMS/GFS/CFS for both weather and climate,
  • coordinate the research development work between EMC and external collaborators from the academia and the government.
