Description

The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) ARM Infrastructure Team had been working on climate modeling ARM Value Added Products (VAPs) for many years now. We describe new additions, updates and future plans of the VAPs being developed. The new ARM Best Estimate product, ARMBELAND, containing several critical soil properties was developed and is available for the SGP site. This product was sought by the land modeling community to improve land-atmosphere coupling and modeling studies. We describe the large-scale forcing datasets that were developed for ARM Intensive Operational Periods (IOPs): MC3E, RACORO and AMIE-Gan. In particular, we generated the ensemble variational analysis forcing dataset by considering uncertainty in precipitation for MC3E. The ARMBECLDRAD and ARMBEARTM products were recently updated and a newly developed QCECOR is now transferred to the main ARM Archive. The work on the cloud retrievals uncertainty quantification and the ACRED (ARM Cloud Retrieval Ensemble Dataset) are discussed. The future goals for all the LLNL ARM VAPs are also presented. This work was performed under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Energy by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory under Contract DE-AC52-07NA27344.
