Description

This poster will review the challenges of measuring solid precipitation in cold regions and the experiments that have led to our current state-of-the-science, including wind tunnel testing and sensor intercomparison projects. Strengths and weaknesses of various instrumentation will be discussed. New instrumentation for quantifying solid and liquid precipitation at the North Slope of Alaska sites is proposed and its merits and shortcomings will be outlined.
