Assistant Professor – Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

 

The University of Wyoming (UW) is seeking to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in STEM applications of AI/ML and Big Data. This position is part of a three-faculty cluster hire in the School of Computing around Applied Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) and Big Data, in partnership with other named academic departments. The other positions advertised in the cluster hire are targeted around the broad areas of new tools and novel approaches for enabling applications of AI/ML and Big Data and applications of AI/ML and Big Data in the social and behavioral sciences and humanities. We seek a faculty hire who will catalyze interdisciplinary collaboration, attract significant external research funding, and enrich our undergraduate and graduate students’ experience.

The University of Wyoming has significant resources to support research computing and data science, including a long-term collaboration with the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputer Center through which a significant fraction of resources is reserved for UW use. In addition, the university hosts the Advanced Research Computing Center, the Shell 3D Visualization Center, the Innovation Wyrkshop, and the Wyoming INBRE Data Science Core. The mission for the School of Computing includes serving as a computing hub for faculty, staff and our industry, state, academic and community partners.
